Sibiloi National Park

The Park covers 1570 Km2 of wilderness scenic landscape on the shores of Lake Turkana. The park was partly established through the initiative of National Museums of Kenya to protect exclusive prehistoric and archeological sites some of which are linked to the origin of man.

The fossils include a crocodile Euthecodon brumpti, giant tortoile Petusios broadleyi, elephant Elephas recki and the Petrified Forest.

The terrain is lake shore, dry semi desert bush and near desert country. The park is waterless apart from the alkaline waters of the lake.

Access;

B y road, its 800 km from Nairobi – via Lodwar or Mars bit to the park.

Attraction;

The park has got main attracting feature’ as follows; the Origin of man in Koobi For a museum and Research Base, lake Turkana scenery, Bird watching  (Flamingoes, Pellicans,Ducks), Thousands of Fossils including (Giant Tortoise, behemoth,45ftlong Crocodile), and shoreline game viewing of (Hippo, Crocodiles, zebra, Giraffe.

Accommodation facilities

The facilities that are available in the park are; NMK research center, kambi turkana, rocodonia2 and rocodonia1.

Activity of the park

There is only interesting and enjoying activities that s; Archeological safaris, game viewing and bird watching.
